Fistfight In The Parking Lot

OK, this one isn’t Ozark-related, but rarely do you see a mainstream network show do a fairly authentic parody of punk rock. This clip from last week’s episode of Saturday Night Live seems to have been written by someone with an actual background in the style. Anyone taking bets on how long before an actual punk band covers this?

Ha. That was great. After watching it, I found this little write up about it... http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2010/02/crisis_of_confo.html

The Abused are playing in St. Louis on April 10. They reunited recently and like the SNL skit, the old guys still got it. It's just that they're all older.

Hope to see some Ozark punks up here in St. Louis on April 10!

I believe that Fred Armisen played bass in some NY Hardcore bands back in the 80's/early 90's if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure he had a good deal to do with it. Also, Dave Grohl is funny! But Ashton Kutcher's inability to even look like he's playing the guitar kind of killer it for me.

that brooklynvegan post has lots of great details in it that i totally missed in the skit. some very smart comedy there. one thing it fails to mention though is that the spoken word piece in the middle of the song is a reference to "institutionalized" by suicidal tendencies, from their first record. awesome stuff.

armisen played drums in trenchmouth and for whatever reason i still remember that fact from when they played at the commercial street club in around '93. i was quite stoked to see him appear on SNL.
